PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEES

PAID LEARNING FOR THOSE NEW TO MANUFACTURING

The Center for Competency Development offers local residents the necessary basic skills and knowledge to begin their careers within the manufacturing arena, all done while being paid as an employee.

The program begins with self-paced online modules to learn safety, basic tools, fasteners, chain of command, timecards, introduction to print reading, measuring, and more. Our experienced team works closely with each trainee to ensure they understand basic processes and can apply them in their day-to-day work.

STEP 1:

APPLICATION AND WALK-THROUGH
After completing your application through the Center for Competency Development website, you will receive an introductory phone call from a representative for the Center. Prior to committing to the program, you will be able to walk through the home of the Center initial training period.
SCREENING PROCESS
Once a candidate is accepted into the program and they accept the offer to enter the program, they will have to clear a criminal background check and drug screen. This process ensures that each candidate has the ability to be successful in the safety sensitive environments.

THE FIRST 30-DAYS
The first thirty days of training include self-paced online modules combined with hands-on training in various businesses that exposes the individual to basic manufacturing processes. Most initial hands-on training exposes the individual to basic manufacturing processes.
EMPLOYEE/EMPLOYER TRIAL PERIOD
After the successful completion of the initial training, usually taking about 30-days, the Center will work with each individual to find an opportunity with a local manufacturing business to complete a 30-day trial employment period, allowing the employee the opportunity to showcase their new competencies and determine if the opportunity aligns with their passion.

FULL EMPLOYMENT
After the 30-day trial period is complete, the employee and employer mutually decide if this is a good fit. If so, the employee will be offered a competitive starting wage and full benefits. If not, other opportunities can be explored.
