These topics emphasized the importance of teamwork and highlighted strategies to maximize productivity and efficiency in the workplace. The workshop also provided actionable steps that attendees can implement in their daily work routines to further enhance their teamwork skills and personal development.

Problem Solving Workshop

ALPENA, MI – On July 27th, a group of business professionals gathered at Alpena Community College for a problem-solving workshop. This event was organized by the Center for Competency Development in collaboration with the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, with the aim of offering hands-on training to members of the Independent Business Units.

Based on feedback from industry leaders, it was clear that this training program was a critical need for the manufacturing sector within the area. The eight-hour workshop was designed to help participants develop a standard work process that would boost the effectiveness of their problem-solving efforts.

Through the use of real-life examples and a case study, participants were able to earn a certificate as they learned about the following key topics: grasping the situation and defining the problem, applying the Plan-Do-Check-Adjust cycle, using an A3 to develop the plan and tell the story, and learning to sustain problem-solving gains.

The training proved to be highly effective, and participants left the workshop with the knowledge and tools needed to apply A3 Problem Solving to improve quality and reduce costs. This valuable experience allowed attendees to develop their skills and become more confident in their ability to solve complex problems in the manufacturing industry.

Overall, the collaboration between the Center for Competency Development and the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center was a great success, and the workshop proved to be a valuable resource for all participants. The event helped to fill a critical need for manufacturing within the area, and it is clear that the skills learned during the training will have a lasting impact on the success of local businesses.
